The colonial-era Twitchell-Rowland Homestead on Towner Lane will be the site of a series of "Community Painting Parties," to be held every weekend in October. The Oxford Historical Society is seeking volunteers who will help to paint the building which is being prepared to serve as a local museum/history education center.
The Oxford Paint and Hardware Store is donating all the paint, and volunteers are requested to sign up for any weekend in October. Work sessions will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, with a lunch break in between for those who are able to work the full day on Saturday. There will be Sunday sessions from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Volunteers may sign up for a morning and/or afternoon sessions on individual Saturdays and Sundays.

We look forward to a large representation of Oxford organizations and individuals in preparing Oxford's first museum which will enable us to share Oxford's history with our residents and guests.
Adults and teens, and civic groups are all encouraged to volunteer. All volunteers will be asked to sign a release of liability waiver at signup. A copy of the waiver form is available here (htm) or HERE (PDF) A copy signed by the volunteer (or by a parent or guardian in the case of a teen) will be required at the work site.
