March is Women's History Month. This month we will feature 100 photos of Oxford's women through history. Today's photos include two more photos from the Budris family photo album, plus one photo from the 1976 Oxford Olde Tyme Fair. The first photo shows Katie Derry Bice at the family farm which was located on Jack’s Hill Road, the property later belonged to the Stakum family. The house was recently demolished. The second photo shows those who worked at Albert Pope's pin factory enjoying a break outside the shop. Several are balanced on the fence - note the cat being held by one of the ladies in the front row. The third photo shows Laura, daughter of Hank and Jessie Carey blocking her sheep with hand shears in preparation for the competition at the 1976 Oxford Olde Tyme Fair which celebrated American's Bicentennial and revived the Oxford fair tradition of the 1800s. Today she is a veterinarian practicing in Litchfield County.
