March is Women's History Month. This month we will feature 100 photos of Oxford's women through history. Today's photos include a wedding, a picnic and a farmer and his family. The wedding of Marion Rowland and Johnny Fritz at the Oxford Congregational Church, August 7, 1948. The picnic at Lake Zoar shows, left to right, Jeanette Cable, Dorothy Tracy, Alice Cable and Audrey Cable. (Audrey C. Linke photo) Alex and Helen Belinsky, grandparents of the late Howard Belinsky, are shown with children Sam and Mary. The parents were born in Poland in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in an area called Galacia that is now in Northern Czechoslovakia. The Belinskys handmade the farm where the the family still lives. In addition to the buildings, the couple blasted and dug out rocks, and then spread the ground with manure year after year to create land for orchards and hayfields. Howard Belinsky said his grandmother was a very hard working woman. In the early 30's, his grandfather would load the wagon with produce, cheese and butter, and they would take what they had grown or his grandmother had made to Seymour to sell.
