March is Women's History Month. This month we will feature 100 photos of Oxford's women through history. All three of today's photos are from Louise Nyberg Burr's family album. Louise is President of the Historical Society and has documented many years of family and local history. The first photo shows her mother, Alice Louise Eames Nyberg, feeding turkey at family home on Jack's Hill Road. The Historical Society has published her memoirs, detailing her parents coming to Oxford and the changes they faced in moving from a New York City apartment to rural Oxford. The second photo shows Alice EamesNyberg holding neighbor’s daughter, thought to be Ester Lundin, when the Eames family lived on Christian Street, later the Steinis place. Photo circa 1920. The final photo shows Alice Nyberg is shown riding a donkey. She raised the donkeys and took them to area fairs where she sold donkey rides.
