The second photo shows Cora Cable and her son Robert ride on a two-wheeled
oxcart laden with hay. Her father-in-law, Glover Cable, who represented Oxford in the State Legislature and served as First Selectman in 1889, built the house in the

Today's final photograph of Oxford Republican leaders, features three men and four women. The women are, left to right, Miriam Strong who served many years as secretary of the Oxford Inland-Wetlands/Conservation Commission, Katherine Beardsley who taught school in Riverside during the time of the dam construction, an as-yet unidentified woman, and Anna Posick who served as Oxford's tax
collector. Former First Selectmen Norman W. Husted stands on the right.
