Historic Oxford Tour, May 5, 2018

 

The Oxford Historical Society will hold a Historic Tour of eight important buildings.  The tour is scheduled for May 5 from 10 to 4 p.m. Tckets for the event may be purchased at the town clerk's office in the Town Hall. Reservations may also be made by email to oxfordhistorian@aol.com. They will also be available at the Twitchell-Rowland Homestead the day of the tour.

 

All of these buildings are featured in the Society's recent book, Historic Buildings of Oxford.  The Society is being awarded the Connecticut League of Historic Organizations Award of Merit for the book.

·        Christ Church, Quaker Farms, 1812

·        Boxwood Glen, ca. 1740

·        Washband (Washburn) Tavern, 1714

·        George P. Sanford Homestead ca. 1750

·        Twitchell-Rowland Homestead, ca. 1755

·        St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1835

·        Oxford U.C.C., Congregational, 1798
